Design on a Photo

DreamDraper® was the first system of its kind and introduced the concept of designing on a photo.

Want to design on top of a photo,

but there's a chair in the way?

No problem!

This is how you do it.  Exclusive to DreamDraper®, use Edit Points to modify the DreamDraper® designs.

Place your design on the

window as shown below.

Use the Fill Color command and remove the color from the panel (use No Fill or set a Transparency level).  Now you can see where to cut.

Click on the Edit Points command and by placing your mouse on the black edit points (also sometimes referred to as anchor points), you can physically alter the outline of the panel so that it curves around the chair.

This is a feature exclusive to DreamDraper®.  To master this technique, sign up for one of our "Edit Points - Learn to Draw" webinars.

These and other tips are available in our free Newsletter.  If you would like to be added to the mailing list, click here.

This technique of using Edit Points can be used to modify the panel (or other DreamDraper® design element) to reveal furniture, light fixtures, or other objects, to give the impression that the panel is underneath.

The "cut" panel has an appearance as shown on the right.  The lines that run through the panel (representing the folds of the fabric) where the cuts were made can be shortened using the same Edit Points options, or you can physically delete the lines altogether.

This method allows you to easily fill the panel with fabric, as the panel is comprised of a single piece.  No piecing of sections, masking, and redrawing shapes around the intruding objects is necessary.

Nothing could be simpler!

Here's another example of modifying DreamDraper® design elements to give the appearance that they are placed behind the sofa, lamp, table, and plant.  On the far right you can see how the right cascade was modified around the sofa and plant.

This gorgeous window treatment was designed by Lilly Brock, Allied ASID, Lilly’s Custom Interiors, located in Lacey, WA.
